Hammock Stand
Hammocks are probably the best way to soothe out stress, especially when it’s been a busy and frantic day. It’s always nice to get home, find that little corner out in the garden and hammock your way out of stress. The many benefits that hammocks have been found to provide are the reason for its continuous and increasing popularity; they can help reduce stress, they save space, plus can be used as an alternative to traditional beds.
There are a lot of hammock variety, as well as various ways to set them up. They can be done the “traditional” way, which is tied to a tree, or they can also be anchored. These days however, especially for beautiful gardens or backyard spaces that doesn’t really have strong big trees to tie them to, hammock stands have been a very popular choice of setting them up.
A hammock stand takes the place of trees by providing two hammock posts attached to a “base-like” horizontal bar with four “feet” that allows it to stay flat on the ground, and serves as the hammock stand’s balance. The hammock stand may differ in durability, size, weight capacity, appearance, assembly, and price. It is also made of three main kinds of materials –wood, stainless steel, and metal.
Wood Hammock Stands
Wood hammock stands are deemed to be the most elegant types of hammocks. They’re particularly ideal for indoor use because of their stunning craftsmanship. They’re generally made of laminated Cyprus wood. Wood stands usually have a fifteen- to sixteen-feet length and four-feet in width; they also have a 600-pound high weight capacity.
For wood stands being used outdoors, it is suggested to have them treated with “protective coating” to guard it against the elements. A commonly recommended way of protecting the stand is through a coating of boiled linseed oil every year. Wood hammock stands are also the most expensive, and can cost about $600 to $700.
Metal Hammock Stands
These stands are usually twelve to fifteen feet in length and four feet in width. The majority of metal stands usually have a 450-pound weight capacity. They can be used both outdoors and indoors, and have a protective “powder coating” that protects it from rust and scratches; although, over a period of time it can wear off, which may lead to stains and rust. Among the three main kinds of hammock stands, this type is the most inexpensive, which costs about $125 to $200. They’re also the easiest type to assemble; the metal parts can easily snap together.
Stainless Steel Hammock Stands
These hammock stands are typically fifteen feet in length, but have similar width to that of a metal stand. They also have a 450- to 600-pound higher weight capacity, and can be used for outdoors or indoors need. These stainless steel hammock stands can actually outlast metal stands as they have greater resistance to rust and scratches, and are more durable. They cost about $300 to $350, and they assemble similarly as metal stands –although some stainless steel parts have to be bolted jointly. But still, stainless steel hammock stands are assembled in a fairly simple process.
For all hammock stands, it is imperative that one makes certain that the hammock purchased is compatible with the hammock stand. It is also essential that one reads the “instruction manual” that comes with the stand and follow them for convenience and safety.
Gone are the days of hammocks only usable with a “pair of trees”, welcome glorious days of hammock indoors or outdoors plus no more “tree requirement”. So, if the only problem stopping you from getting the wonderful benefits of a hammock was where to hang it, then it’s time to smile, and get that hammock and its matching hammock stand now!
